What are some approaches to solve a ‘problem’ in one’s life?

The Strategies

  • Strategy 1: Change your mind.
    • You are feeling anxiety or anger at something in your life.
    • Accept that the universe is unfolding. Be grateful for the things you have and accept what the situation as it is.
  • Strategy 2: Change your actions.
    • Karma is cause-and-effect. Your actions are the ’cause’, and the results of your actions are the effects. Change the world by changing your actions.
  • Strategy 3: Change your environment.
    • You want to keep acting the same but get different effects. You have to change something, e.g., get a different job, move to a different area, fix the broken objects around you.
  • Strategy 4: Get other’s to change their actions.
    • You could be happy if only people treated you differently. Work to get them to change.

An Example

Take an example out of modern life. There is a modern young student who stays in touch with his culture and his friends through this cell phone. However, he is running out of data after the first three weeks of the month and is feeling cut off for that last week.

Tactics

  • Strategy 1
    • Gratitude: I am connected to all most of the time.
    • Acceptance: The week I’m not connected lets me have some time on my own to explore the world. It’s probably a good thing things are the way they are.
  • Strategy 2
    • I can control what I watch during the first three weeks to make sure my data last for the whole month. Do I really need to play music videos to get my music?
    • Find other plans with more data. If the plan costs more, get a job and send my parents the difference in the cost of the plans.
  • Strategy 3
    • Maybe I can get connected in such a way that I can get the same music, videos, and text without using so much data directly from my phone. For example, I am usually within range of a wifi, so use that for ‘augmented data’. Find out the technical information to make this so and VALIDATE that it isĀ  working properly.
  • Strategy 4
    • Get my mother and father to change plans and pay more money so I don’t have to change.

Commentary:

Strategy 1: You can increase satisfaction in your life by reducing desire and appreciating what you already have. Strategy 2: The only person whose intentions and actions you can truly control are your own. Changing your intentions, changes your actions. Changing your actions, changes your life. Strategy 3: Investigating and understanding the world around you can lead to a better world for you and for others. Strategy 4: Expecting others to change to make you happy is a road to regret. Not only can’t you control others actions, but, by trying to do so can make them resent you. They made end up by taking action against you.   Depend on yourself to change your life.
